How Can Democrats Win the Midterms?
Pres. Biden cannot expect blacks and minorities to out vote or out-organize dozens of GOP red state voter suppression laws which give red state legislatures the power to overturn the vote.
Since 1969 Congress has completed 165 “Carveouts” (exceptions) to the filibuster in order to pass particular pieces of legislation.
There is no good reason why Democrats cannot “carveout” an exception to the filibuster in order to hold a 51-majority vote on necessary election reform legislation, such as the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, the For The People Act and the Freedom To Vote Act. The passage of these essential election reform bills are absolutely necessary to neuter dozens of GOP red state laws designed to derail democracy and suppress the vote.
President Biden needs to use the power of the bully pulpit of the Presidency to whip Manchin and Sinema into voting for a carveout exception to the filibuster so Democrats, including Manchin and Sinema, can pass Democrats’ election reform bills.
